Yinshan Industrial Complex — Flue Gas Treatment Retrofit
Yinshan Eco-Environment Technology (Partner)
Project Overview
Large-scale flue gas emission retrofit for a major integrated steel and sintering complex in Jiangsu Province — part of China's national ultra-low emission upgrade programme for the steel industry. The project achieved NOx ≤35 mg/Nm³ and particulate ≤5 mg/Nm³, well within China's most stringent ultra-low emission thresholds.
The Challenge
China's steel industry faces mandatory ultra-low emission compliance deadlines under Ministry of Ecology and Environment requirements. The facility — processing over 5 million tonnes of steel annually — needed to simultaneously retrofit four sintering machines and two blast furnace cast houses with minimal production disruption.
Our Solution
A phased SNCR/SCR cascade installation across all sintering machines, coordinated with the facility's planned maintenance shutdowns. Activated carbon injection systems were added for dioxin and heavy metal control. The project was delivered as a complete EPC contract including civil works, equipment supply, installation, commissioning, and CEMS integration with the national monitoring platform.
Results & Impact
- NOx: from 320 mg/Nm³ to ≤35 mg/Nm³ (89% reduction)
- Particulate: from 45 mg/Nm³ to ≤5 mg/Nm³
- SO₂: ≤35 mg/Nm³ (national ultra-low standard achieved)
- Four sintering machines retrofitted within 18-month window
- Zero unplanned production shutdowns during installation
- Full CEMS integration with MEE national monitoring platform
